Revised Advance Beneficiary Notice Must Be Used

(3/11/08) Effective March 3, 2008, a revised Advanced Beneficiary Notice (CMS-R-131) is to be used when payment is expected to be denied. This form will replace the following forms: CMS-R-131G, CMS-R-131L, and CMS-2007, otherwise known as the Notice of Exclusions from Medicare Benefits (NEMB). A six-month transition period will be in effect and the revised ABN must be utilized no later than September 1, 2008. Click here to get the form and instructions.
