The American Academy of Audiology and the American Academy of Audiology Foundation are pleased to support research through their Research Awards Program. The deadline for receipt of all applications and related materials for funding in 2008 was November 15, 2007. Three categories of Research Awards are available:
-
New Investigator Research Award
Awards of up to $10,000 will be granted to investigators who have recently completed a doctoral degree in audiology and do not have significant sources of research funding.
2007–2008 New Investigator Application Handbook
-
Student Investigator Research Award
Awards of up to $5,000 will be granted to graduate students working toward a degree in audiology who wish to complete a research project as a part of their course of study.
2007–2008 Student Investigator Application Handbook
-
Student Summer Research Fellowship
A stipend of $2,500 will be granted for undergraduate students or students currently enrolled in a graduate program in audiology who wish to gain a limited, but significant, exposure to a research environment.
2007–2008 Student Summer Research Fellowship Application
The New and Student Investigator Awards are designated for new researchers. The funded student investigator and summer research fellow will undertake research with a mentor. New Investigator Award recipients are not required to have a mentor for their research project but may do so if the nature and scope of the project necessitates such. The awards will be made based on merit of the application. When possible and appropriate, awards will be made for clinical/applied and basic research.
Development of this research award program underscores the commitment of the Academy and the Academy Foundation to the promotion of research among audiologists. This program provides a means for encouraging research as part of a student's training program and the development of young scientists within our profession.
