Direct Access

The Hearing Health Accessibility Act for the 109th Congress (HR 415) was introduced in the House of Representative on January 25, 2005 by Rep. Jim Ryun (R-KS). Sen. Tim Johnson (D-SD), joined by Sen. Mike DeWine (R-OH) and Sen. Tom Harkin (D-IA), introduced the Senate companion legislation (S 277) on February 3, 2005.

The grassroots advocacy efforts of audiologists have contributed to the creation of a strong foundation on this issue, however it is the continued involvement and visibility of audiologists that will further promote awareness for Direct Access amongst lawmakers.
